dgate --addimagefile performance question

  • It looks to me that I am experiencing "dgate --addimagefile" performance problem: it takes about 15 sec to execute "dgate --addimagefile" command pretty much regardless the image size and processor (processor utilization stays in between 0% and 1% during command execution).

Is it normal? Are there any "hidden" settings that control this?

I am using Conquest server version 1.4.13.

  • Hi,

this is not normal and suggests a networking problem (the command transmits the filename to the server dgate.exe and the dicom file is loaded by that application). The command is also used in the windows GUI for drag and drop. Is that also slow?

  • On the clean database (reinitialized only with HEAD EXP2 sample study that comes with Conquest) time to add image is the same both from GUI and command take the same time 7 to 8 sec. Image size 11.6 MB (12,188,876 bytes), DB engine: MS SQL Server 2005.

    Below are server status logs:

Adding using GUI (drag and drop):

[VZ3DCMSRV] User interface test: local server is running!
------------ Adding image files to server -----------
[VZ3DCMSRV] [recompress]: recompressed with mode = un (strip=0)
    [VZ3DCMSRV] Added file: C:\dicomserver\data\xx\<1..9>.1\<1..9>.2\<1..9>.3.dcm
    -----------------------------------------------------

    Adding using dgate command interface:

[VZ3DCMSRV] User interface test: local server is running!
    -----------------------------------------------------
[VZ3DCMSRV] Server command sent using DGATE -- option
[VZ3DCMSRV] [recompress]: recompressed with mode = un (strip=0)
    [VZ3DCMSRV] Added file: C:\dicomserver\data\xx\<1..9>.1\<1..9>.2\<1..9>.3.dcm

Reinitialization of the same DICOM image previously imported into Conquest is very fast. The whole process takes about 3-4 sec:

------------------- Start database init and regeneration --------------------
    [VZ3DCMSRV] Regen Database
    [VZ3DCMSRV] Step 1: Re-intialize SQL Tables
[VZ3DCMSRV] Step 2: Load / Add DICOM Object files
    ------------------- Finished database regeneration --------------------
    [VZ3DCMSRV] [Regen] C:\dicomserver\data\xx\<1..9>.1\<1..9>.2\<1..9>.3.dcm -SUCCESS
    [VZ3DCMSRV] Regeneration Complete

Is it possible that [recompress] take time to do its job?

    Thank you!
