Speed problem Win7

  • Hi all,

    I set up Conquest 1.4.16 on a Win7 Pro machine with MySQL-Database.
So far, connections to clients where I run Synedra 1.1.0.9 are fine.

But I have problems with the speed for retrieving an image.

Following I copied the detailed log when I try to get a picture with the size of 13.4 MB, it took 18 seconds!
If you look at the log almost the whole waiting time passes by where I marked it.

If I query from the local machine, where Conquest is installed it works fast, but the network speed beside this effect is pretty well. And I can see also that once Conquest started sending the image it's done in two seconds, but until it starts it takes much to long.

    Any idea? Thanks!

  • Hi,

this may have to do with network settings. Does your server have multiple network cards? If it tries to contact through the wrong network it takes a while to start trying the other one.

    Marcel

  • Hi Marcel

The "Server" is a standard Win7 Pro machine with one network card.
I already tried nearly everything, like fixing IP addresses or disabling IPv6 and firewalls and so on...
I also set up a very same system in another network and there I had the same problem (workgroup network, no domain).
If someone made the same experience, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Manny

  • Hi,

The waiting time occurs there where it is attempting to connect to HP98942572927. Try replacing HP98942572927 with its IP adress in acrnema.map, to see what happens. And if you do the same move to the server itself, how long does it take? And from the command prompt, "ping HP98942572927" works well?

    Marcel

  • Hi,

I tried to replace the hostname with the IP in the acrnema.map, but problem still occurs. Ping is ok (Hostname and IP).
If I do the same move on the server itself it takes about 2 seconds.

So, for me it looks also like a network problem, but I tried everything, thats why I placed this post.

This log comes from a querying Win7 Prof. (32 Bit) machine.
But in this network are also Vista Bus. and XP Prof. clients and the problems are the same.
I have the feeling that the Conquest server on the machine with Win7 Prof. (32-Bit) is the source of the problem or maybe MySQL on it.

  • Hi,

I think mysql is OK, the wait does not occur when the database is accessed - but just to be sure, can you create a new temporay dummy server with SQLITE with all defaults and see if this shows the same issue for the same file?

And can you post your ipconfig output?

    Marcel

  • Sorry for the very late reply...

I found the reason. It was a DNS problem, if I put in a public DNS server it worked.
Even better is if I declare on the viewer clients the host and the corresponding IP in the file "hosts" und C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc .

Since I did that I haven't got any problems on that site.

    Thanks for your help, Marcel!
