Known Dicom Providers with DHCP environment

    I use Conquest Server with ClearCanvas workstation as dicom viewer. They work well however i have to set each client ip address in the (known dicom providers) for successful communication with the server. I tried to replace the ip address with (*) , for example (PC56 * 104 un ) but didnt work for me. Since our LAN is configured with DHCP, the client's ip address may change. How can I overcome this.

    The * is taken from the AE title, we often use e.g. "V* * 1234 un", so that AE V10.10.10.1 maps to IP 10.10.10.1 port 1234. For normal DHCP use just use the hostname e.g. "VIEWER1 computer1 1234 un".

    Expanding on Marcel's comment - if you don't know the hostname, but know the current IP address of the device, you can do ping -a IPAddress which should return the DNS/Hostname. The DNS name should follow the device as it picks up new IP addresses.
