KPACS Imagebox folder still contains "removed" fol

Although folders are being removed from the imagebox in the viewer, if i check the imagebox using windows explorer there are supposedly removed files in there taking up a lot of disk space. I manually removed them but why are they still there? The overflow management is set to 5 days of studies, and these were significantly older than that. Thank you for your help
