How to print 1:1 original size

  • hi,

I'm also interested in this feature because the hard copy (film) required by some institutions are "true size". It seems that dicom images can printed as 1:1 scale only
when one has a 5 Megapixel monitor for DR or CR images. Monitors of lower resolution (e.g. 3 Megapixel) result in images getting crop when zoom at 1:1.

Its there a way other to get a true size print when using lower resolution monitor?

True-sizing DICOM print will be possible with iQ-VIEW 2.7.0.

The true-size printing does not have anything to do with the display resolution but with the film size you select. Of course, if you have a rather big X-Ray image, it might be that not the entire images can be printed onto the film, if real-size is used. And, of course, you will also see more of the image if you use 14x17 inch film than when using 8x10 inch film.

It's the same with the display resolution. The smaller the resolution, the less of a large image you will see when displaying it in real-size. For the display of the entire image the fit-in zoom option is implemented, which will fit every image into the available view.

    Kind regards

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I understand that the monitor resolution should not have any bearing on the ability of the software to produce a true size film
copy of a digital radiograph, however, that is the behaviour of IQ-View 2.6 because it prints WYSIWYG. Since the software downsizes
a 4 megpix image to fit a 2 or 3 Megpix monitor the printed copy is what you see in the monitor which is a zoom out image.

It is good to know that this feature will be made available in the up coming version. I do hope that the bug in the search engine when using
alpha numeric date will have also been addressed in the new version. (reported in the bug list). This two will features will fully address our hospital needs.

    Thanks again.

  • Dear ajgg

As already discussed also with your local reseller, the issue with the alphanumeric date format will be fixed as well in the next version.

As for zoomed printing, of course, you may also use zoom on your images in iQ-VIEW 2.6.0 and print out images larger than the fit-in into the available view. Still, what you see is what you get. That's what the preview is for, so that you can decide which layout to use, how far to zoom the image(s) and to pan them to place the structures you are really interested in printing out into the center of the view.

    Kind regards
