Running K-PACS as a service

  • I need to be able to send images from different imaging modalities back to my office so that I can do the analysis. K-PACS seems to be just the job.

However, it only runs if someone logs in and starts K-PACS. It would be great if it could run as a service so that no-one needs to be logged in for it to work. By definition, if I am at the CT scanner or what ever, I am not in my office, and can't therefore log in! I would like not to have to leave the computer logged in as me all the time too, so that my colleagues can access it.

Have you any ideas on how I could resolve this one?

  • Hello Ed,

true NTservice support is not implemented yet, but what you can do is:
create a link to the file "kpsautostart" in the K-PACS-Server folder and copy that link to Start -> All Programs -> StartUp
    (\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup)
or make an entry for kpsautostart in then registry
    (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run)

    hope I could help,
    Andreas

  • Thanks Andreas.

I didn't notice your reply in this forum until today - after I saw that you have implimented running as an NT- service in the new version.

I have installed 0.9.5, and the NT-service feature seems to be working!

Thanks for adding this feature, it makes the program much more useful for me :D
