    Dear steve76

I must admit that I am unsure what exactly you are doing and what you are doing to achieve.

The KP-Server is only the DICOM SCP component of the K-PACS workstation, responsible for receiving DICOM objects via DICOM transmission. It is not a PACS or separate database. Also keep in mind that the K-PACS imagebox is individual for each K-PACS installation. It is not meant to be a shared database for different K-PACS workstations. If you need a central archiving point, you may want to try ConQuest server.

Are you using the "Filesystem" function to import new images into the local imagebox of K-PACS or are you receiving these new images via DICOM transmission? If you use the "Filesystem" option to read in a lot of studies then this can take some time. During the scanning, K-PACS will parse all data in the specified folder and sub-folders and present the results in the "Filesystem" table. You can then select the studies you really wish to import and click "View". Only the selected studies are imported and loaded into the viewer. If you want to import many studies, it would be recommended to use the option "Just retrieve (don't show) under "Local settings".

Regarding the images not showing up, this can have different reasons:

      - If you use one K-PACS database as shared database for different installations, data might not show up automatically, because the respective K-PACS stations will not update a "foreign" database.
      - If using "Filesystem" import and images not showing up, you may have permissions issues in the folder where you put the K-PACS imagebox and/or database.
      - If you are receiving the images via DICOM transmission, the DICOM settings (AET, IP, port) might be incorrect at either or both of the communication partners. Also here, permissions issues can result in images not being stored properly.
      - In case of database corruption, it can also happen that images are received that are actually stored in the K-PACS database already, but are no longer registered for any reason. Such images will not be registered again and will not show up in the study list.
      - Or you might have modified the patient information of a study (using "Modify" function). Now if you load the same study again with the original patient data, it will still show up under the modified patient information. This way you may overlook it.

    Solutions:

      - Use ONE local imagebox for EACH INDIVIDUAL K-PACS installation - nothing shared.
      - Check the permissions of the folder(s) where the K-PACS imagebox and/or database is stored (K-PACS needs full access to this/these folders).
      - If the database is corrupted (e.g. more study folders in the database folder than studies are listed in the study browser), then perform a database regeneration or start over with a new database.

Please refer to the thread that already exists for the same topic.

We kindly ask you to browse the forum first to check if your question is already answered before opening a new topic. Thank you.

Please keep in mind that both iQ-VIEW and K-PACS are workstation software and are not meant to run on server operating systems.

The DICOM server component of iQ-VIEW has been largely improved. The IQSERVER can be installed as Windows service and will run as such. The server administration tool has been enhanced and now allows a very easy configuration of the DICOM SCP component.

Feel free to try the latest version of iQ-VIEW on workstation OS, such as Windows 7 or Windows XP.

    Dear Theo

The fusion of CT and PET images is usually possible directly at the modalities that create these images. Both K-PACS and iQ-VIEW are able to display such fused images but have no options to create fusion images out of CT or MR and PET. I would suggest that you check in with your modality vendor to see if options can be provided at the modalities.

    Dear jimladen

I just checked it again. K-PACS is listed under "Free DICOM tools" as it should - directly under "iQ-LAUNCHER", which is the first one of the free tools we are offering in our "Download Center".

Please follow the steps I laid out in my previous post.

    Quote from Sabine Stridde

You can download the software from our website at http://www.image-systems.biz. Click "Download Center" in the menu bar on the left and then go to "Free DICOM Tools". Please note that you will have to log in with your forum login data to access the download.

If necessary, delete your browser cache and start over.

    Dear AlliedMedImaging

This is correct; the feature is not available in K-PACS.

For price information and/or information about available local resellers, I would suggest that you contact our sales department directly. I have forwarded your inquiry to our U.S. sales team. They will get in contact with you as soon as possible. If you wish, you may also simply send an email to sales [at] image-systems.biz including your contact details.

    I hope that helps.

K-PACS is a freeware software. That's why there is only little documentation available for it.

Please try our professional solutions, such as iQ-VIEW. Those are certified according to CE and FDA 510(k) as medical devices, are properly supported by us as manufacturer and a worldwide network of local resellers and come with full user documentation, such as user manual, administration guide and, of course, a DICOM Conformance Statement.

    Dear olly

There have been different reports about AVAST blocking the download of *.exe files. It seems to me that the warning you receive is a false positive. K-PACS has been downloaded hundreds of times without problems. I personally downloaded it to a computer with up-to-date anti virus scanner just a few days ago and didn't experience any issues.

Make sure that you update your anti virus software and then try again. Also run a scan on your computer to check for potential threats. If you still experience issues when downloading K-PACS, then try doing so with another computer running a different anti virus software.

PS: Please keep in mind that the forum language is English. This way your posts can be read by anyone and you can expect a faster reply. Thank you for understanding.

    Dear AlliedMedImaging

The feature you are looking for can be found in our iQ-VIEW workstation software. There it works exactly in the way you describe:

      - You drag the study where you want to add something onto the "Import" button.
      - The "Import" dialog opens, the patient information is filled in automatically.
      - You import the images you wish to attach (e.g. from directory, TWAIN source, etc.).
      - You select whether you want to attach all imported images in one series ("same series" option") or each in a separate series ("same study but different series" option).
      - Then you import the images into your imagebox.
      - The images are attached to the original study in one or more new series.

The procedure is also described in the user manual which comes together with the iQ-VIEW software. Check it out.

    Dear dlu

Thanks for the additional details. In general, you have different options depending on what exactly you need:

      - If possible and if supported by the Selenia CAD / CAD workstation you could connect them to the network in which your PACS is running and initiate a DICOM Store to send the images that were created on the road directly to your PACS. The images and CAD objects would then be available there and could further be distributed to reading stations.

      - If there is the option to send the images via DICOM from the Selenia CAD / CAD workstation, but you need some routing device in between, e.g. for compressing/uncompressing the images or to send the images from one network to the one where your PACS is running or even from the remote location where your van is located when acquiring the images, then our iQ-ROUTER may help.

      - If there is no option to directly send the images to the PACS from the Selenia CAD / CAD workstation but you have to import the images from a directory on your hard disk, then you might want to use our software DICOMReader. With it you can scan any portable media or directories for DICOM files and then automatically send them via DICOM to a pre-defined station, such as your PACS.

I hope one of these solutions will meet your requirements.

We have a huge partner network and one of our partners may be just around your corner. Simply check our contact map. Our local resellers will be happy to discuss your project and your requirements with you and will be able to give further recommendations.

    Dear dlu

Could you give a few further details? Why can't you just send your images and reports from the modality directly to the PACS (via DICOM transmission)? Why do you need a step in between and what does this step have to achieve?

If you can be a bit more specific, we may be able to recommend you an appropriate solution out of our vast product portfolio.

    Dear dlu

K-PACS does only support the display of Basic, Enhanced and Comprehensive SR. CAD objects are not supported. They would be imported into the local imagebox so you may see them in the local imagebox table, but the viewer is unable to display them.

You will have to find a viewer that supports this kind of SOP class.

Sorry for not having any better news for you.

    Dear ksell

It is difficult to guess the causes of the behavior you are experiencing from only this information. Please check the log file for errors and also try out different studies. Does the behavior occur with all data or only specific (e.g. images from a specific modality)?

You may want to try out our professional DICOM reading station iQ-VIEW. This software is constantly improved and also the "Modify" (in German "Ändern") function has been enhanced, including the anonymization.

In addition to lots of other tools and options for image processing, importing and exporting of data, printing and interfaces to other specialized modules (e.g. 3D post-processing, stitching, etc.) the iQ-VIEW software is also certified according to CE and FDA 510(k) as a medical device and can therefore be used for diagnostic purposes. It comes with full user documentation and, of course, with technical support in case of problems such as the one you are currently confronted with.

Find out more about iQ-VIEW or obtain a trial version here.

    Dear cvieira

You are not doing anything wrong nor is this a bug. This option is simply not available in the free version K-PACS. For full functionality, not only of the CD/DVD burning features but lots of other tools and options for image processing, importing and exporting of data, printing, interfaces to other specialized modules (e.g. 3D post-processing, stitching, etc.), please try our professional software iQ-VIEW. You can find details as well as an evaluation version of the software here.

The iQ-VIEW software is also certified according to CE and FDA 510(k) as a medical device and can therefore be used for diagnostic purposes, it is available also in Portuguese, comes with full user documentation and technical support in case of problems, other big advantages over the freeware K-PACS.

If you enjoy working with iQ-VIEW, please contact us or a reseller in your area to obtain a full version or ask questions.

    Dear hnryc1234

Thank you for your interest in K-PACS. You can download the software from our website at http://www.image-systems.biz. Click "Download Center" in the menu bar on the left and then go to "Free DICOM Tools". Please note that you will have to log in with your forum login data to access the download.

Keep in mind that the software cannot be used for diagnostic purposes.

    Dear Chris

I've checked the DICOM Conformance Statement of the Fuji Drypix 1000. Here is what you may want to check too:

    - While the printer seems to support "NONE" as Magnification Type, the default is "CUBIC". Try this setting in the iQ-VIEW "DICOM settings" for the printer.
    - "EmptyImageDensity" seems not to be supported at all. In that case it should be ignored by the printer, but I am not sure if that is done.

Check the logs of the film imager to see what exactly the issue is.

    Dear ome_chris

This looks as if you might have selected an unsupported film format. You set 14INX17IN within the iQ-VIEW print manager (LANDSCAPE format), but your printer responds with 11INX15IN. Please check if your printer supports the selected format or select a different one.

If that does not help, please open an official support ticket with our support team at support@image-systems.biz.

Please note that support fees will apply in case you have no valid support package.
