    Hello bushanger,

I changed the method of importing dicom studies with V0.9.2.1
Now you have to click on "Filesystem" in the query panel (below "Imagebox"). There you can select the directory and scan for dicom studies. This works now like querying and archive, so be carefull to use the right filter settings or clear all filter fields to turn of filtering.

    Hello there,
With Version 0.9.2.1 I changed the way of importing dicom files into the local db. The 'Import' button is now used for bmp/jpg to dicom import. If you want to import dicom files to view them with k-pacs, just click on "filesystem" in the query panel and select the directory of the files (e.g. root directory of your CD). After clicking on accept K-PACS will scan the folder and all subfolders for valid dicom files and sort them into series and studies. It will show you the found studies in the main grid. If the checkbox "Check every file for dicom compliancy" is checked, K-pacs will test if the file is completely compliant to the dicom 3 part 10 standard. This is recommended if you want to send these files into an archive. If K-PACS does not show any found study you can try to uncheck the checkbox and search again. Some dicom files fail the test (for instance hipax created images) but nevertheless could be shown and transferred.
Note that the filter options are working for filesearch as well!! So, click "clear fields" before importing from filesystem, if you want to see all valid studies in the folder.

    Hello there,

Particularly on slower computers with low ram you could sometimes get "dbregimage errors" (most of the time they appear when you retrieve the first studies after starting K-PACS). This is caused by the file managment routine within the server. I am working on that problem and will provide a bugfix as soon as possible.
Secondly, sometimes not all series of the study will be shown as thumbnails. If that occurs, close the viewer and rightclick on the study in the grid. Select 'clear study from local db' and then retrieve it again. I will give an option for changing the behaviour of K-PACS when doubleclicking a study. There will be three modes: 1. retrieve and show simultanously (as it is right now), 2. retrieve everything and show afterwards. 3. just retrieve and don't show.

The bugfix and changes will be published next week.

Would be a nice feature but there are a lot of things with greater priority to me right now. I will have a look if I can integrate an open source capture driver, that would be the fastest posibility.

    Hello bushanger,

I intend K-Pacs to be something like a workstation with advanced image creation and manipulation functionality. A web server should be provided by a real DICOM server, so this function would be great if it was integrated within Conquest...
K-Pacs server functionality is limited to receiving and sending images. I don't think that providing a query/retrieve service would be very useful for a worksation (although I know that E-Film supports it).

    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Thanks for the report,

I think this error message is not caused by the modifying process but by some system resource problem. I know that K-PACS still has some memory leaks that could cause it to crash or show strange error messages. I'am working on that problem and every update will make it a little more stable.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

    Hello guys,

try the new JPEG and BMP to DICOM function (based on the dicom2.exe by S. Barr?)!
Currently it will convert all images to 8bit greyscale, but unlike DicomWorks or UniPacs these images are fully dicom compliant and you can send them to any server you want!

Please let me know about your experience.

    Hello there,

Thanks to the help from the Offis guys I solved the retrieval problem with e-film (and may with some other servers). I will include the fix in the upcomming update. If you can't wait contact me and I will send a prerelease via e-mail.

There are some major changes and additions on the way:

    - much improved import function with full dicomdir support and display of found studies in the grid before import into the local db
    - advanced tile mode from 1x2 to 5x5 images per panel. Available for both independent panels in split screen. I maybe add two more of these panels to provide the ability of displaying 4 series at the same time or even 4 different patients/modalities.
    - Patient-ID based study-level query from within the viewer to easily add studies from archive or local db to the tabulators.
    - improved display of thumbnails with bugfixes and some custom settings
    - Invert, ROI-windowing and imagerotate. I also work on ROI-zooming, but that might come later.
    - Scrapbook function like in E-film that shows a collection of selected images and exporting or printing them
    - Dual monitor support

I hope to release this update within the next three weeks.

    Hello Bob,

thanks for the report. This crash happens due to some access right problem between the viewer and the database. Don't worry, the database won't crash, the viewer hasn't got any writing rights for the database.
I am about to fix that. The bugfix will be available with the next update. If this crash should happen too often, please contact me.

There are right now some limitations with compatibility to e-film workstations. K-PACS can query E-film on study and series level. For exact matching keys you have to add a wildcard character '*' to override the general wildcard k-pacs appends automatically. For partial matching keys don't add '*'.
Pushing images to e-film and visaversa does work, but pulling images from e-film fails right now. Maybe I can fix that, but for all of you who use e-film as a server: better change to a real server with a performant database like conquest. It is far better configurable, more stable and can handle millions of images with MySQL or even the new internal DBIII driver. The internal efilm database should be used as a cache for the most recent studies.

    Hello there,
I just updated last version 0.9.2 with a bugfix for some retrieval problems from certain servers. Pulling from conquest with activated JPEG option is now possible. Even CTN based server should work now, please report if not. The update is available in the download section.

    Andreas

    Hello saltere,
    thanks for your report.
It sounds like you have a similar problem to the one Christian reported with Conquest. I fixed the retrieve failure for him with a not yet published version. I will send it to you via mail. If it works for you to, I will update the official version as soon as possible.

    Hello Bob,

right now you can reset the zoom though right-clicking the zoom button and selecting 'original' or 'fit in'. But you are right, a general reset button would be helpful. I will include it in the next update, at the moment I just don't now where to put it.

    Hello Nagata,

Right now, import is only possible for dicom 3 part 10 compliant image files. Other image formats are not yet supported, but I am working on that feature, because I personally need it, too (import of scanned x-rays for instance)

    Thank's for your compliment,

    Andreas

    Hello there,

I decided to call the current update 0.9.2 instead of 0.9.1.1 to indicate that this isn't just a minor update but brings two new major functionalities: printing and dicom-tag-modification. Furthermore some bugfixes are included and the viewer stability is improved a lot.
Tip: try the new drag and drop options in the main form: drag, for instance the patient-id of a patients study onto the ID search field to search for more studies of the same patient.
Thank's to the help of Tim from the US, K-PACS is now compatible to the CDMEDIC dicom server (unix-based). If you want to learn more about this server, go to http://www.idoimaging.com.
