    Hello there,

I will release V0.9.3 end of this week. This is a major update and brings a lot of changes. Above all I improved the viewers functionality a lot. There will be no limiting frames around the images any more (so you can zoom to whole screen width and beyond), images will be centered automatically, text overlay will be very detailed and so on.
Additionally I finally implemented a cd-creation tool (works with WinXP only). K-pacs will produce a 100% DICOM compatible CD with a correct DICOMDIR. More options like on-cd viewer, jpeg thumbnails and so on will follow soon.
File import will also support DICOMDIR now, so scanning and importing files from a CD with a valid DICOMDIR will be very fast now.

    Hello Ken,

thanks for your compliment. I plan to integrate log files of all network activity in V0.9.4
There will be a send/receive que like in E-film and extended debug/verbose logs of the dicom communication to help system admins (and me).

K-PACS is thought to be a diagnostic workstation and the server process "KPSERVER" is for receiving images , querying remote achives and sending images to dicom nodes. K-PACS right now does not support query retrieve as service class provider, that means you can not query the k-pacs imagebox except with the K-PACS workstation that is bound to the database.
In future versions I will implement QR-SCP but there are a lot of free good dicom servers that do this job (like conquest or pacs one).

Ps.: the old free E-Film version is not availbale for download anymore.

Right now, K-PACS will resample all jpeg and bmp images to monochrome 8bit for compatibility reasons. I am working on a stable 16bit color import option.

It is possible to regenerate your local imagebox via the "filesystem" option. Click "filesystem", then select the folder of your imagebox (default: c:\kpacs\imagebox), uncheck the "check for dicom compliancy" option because all files in the imagebox are dicom compliant and this would slow down the process. Click "Accept" and the imagebox will be searched through. Select all studies that where found and click "viewer". The database will be regenerated (this may take a while for large databases).

For complete regeneration make a copy of the whole imagebox folder (for instance "c:\k-pacs\imagebox-copy", clear local database (go to "local settings" and select "clear local imagebox"). Do as descibed above with the imagebox-copy folder.

I am currently working on the scrapbook function, DICOMDIR support and the CD burning option. All other features of V0.9.3 are allready implemented in the current Version V0.9.2.2
Realease date will be around easter holidays.

from March 13 to 14 there was a Version of K-PACS downloadable, that fails to move images via the "transfer" button to the target server but downloads them instead to the local db. If you downloaded the V.0.9.2.2 Version within this timespan and you need this option, please download it again. The current version is bugfixed.

    Sorry for the inconvenience,

    Andreas

Referrence lines are more difficult to implement than one thinks, but I am working on that problem. Annotation option and arrows will come soon but not before V.0.9.4 (maybe August 05)

    Hello Eric,

K-PACS would be a possible solution for your task but not the best, if you want to store a lot of images (more than 1000 Patients). Then you should install ConquestServer or similar dicom server software. K-PACS is mainly intended to be an images presentation software and import-export workstation that connects to a server but implements a small database as well (for instance to cache most recent studies)

On your MR-machine you have to find the dialog where to state the dicom note properties you want to connect to. Default properties of K-PACS are:
AET: KPSERVER, Port: 111 but you can change those settings with the server admin tool.
If you use K-PACS than make shure that you swiched off "overflowmanagement: based on date of registration", because studies older than the stated number of days will be deleted automatically from your db.

    Hello there

I want to summarize the planned major milestones of development in 2005 briefly:
    Priority is in descending order:

    - CD Burning and advanced image export/import (DICOMDIR and TWAIN support)
    - DICOM Print
    - DICOM Worklist as SCU
    - fundamental database restructuring using MySQL
    - support of query/retrieve as service class provicer
    - 3D visualization using the VTK

If you think there is something essential missing, please let me know.

    Andreas

    Hello fernando,

To change AET and PORT click local settings and then 'server admint tool'. Here you should stop the server, change the settings and restart it. After that restart K-PACS.

I admit that it is a bit confusing to have two places where you can change these settings. The edit fields of the "local settings" dialog are thought for information only and should therefore be read-only.

    Andreas

    Hello fernando,

of course you can send images from you MRI scanner to k-pacs, because K-PACS server is a fully dicom compliant store service class provider.
Just state the AET, IP and PORT of K-PACS as a dicom node at your MRI machine and send the images. K-PACS will receive them if the server is running (server starts automatically when starting the k-pacs.exe). You will find the received studies in "local" mode (click on "imagebox").

To your second question: with V.0.9.3 K-PACS will be able to create CD's with a DICOMDIR and a DICOM 3 part 10 compliant filestructure. Any dicom capable viewer should be able to show the images.

I am positive about publishing V.0.9.3 this month.

    Andreas

    Hello Huub,

your are right, K-PACS still does not send the correct retrieve leven when requesting a move process via the transfer button (but it does when you doubleclick a study). I simply forgott to fix it here as well.
The upcoming version 0.9.2.2 will be bugfixed.

    Thanks for you report,
    Andreas

Btw.: your provided e-mail address does not work.

    Hello jackto,

    welcome to the forum.
I will enable the CD export function with the next major update (V.0.9.3), which will be available for download this month.
An on CD "K-PACS lite" Dicom-Viewer will come later this year.
