dgate daemon will not shut down

I am running Conquest under the wavedrift/conquest docker container. We've noticed that sometimes the docker container does not shut down cleanly. I think this is being caused by the fact that the container runs the daemon:

dgate -v

and when the docker controller sends a sigterm, the daemon does not shut down.

I tried running the daemon as a background process, and then calling:

dgate -v --quit

and

dgate -v --safequit

But neither seems to shut down the background process.

Anyone have any ideas?

If we use just the command:

dgate -v

in the foreground and terminate it with just a SIGTERM, will that work as well?
