Default UIDPrefix

  • Hi,

A think a PACS needs its own prefix. The windows GUI generates one on install:

    1.2.826.0.1.3680043.2.135.Date.Time

Where it is assumed incredibly unlikely that two users install conquest at exactly the same date and time. The start of the prefix is NKI's private prefix followed by 135 for the conquest server. In Linux you are supposed to set your own prefix in dicom.ini.

If you want to keep a study's own prefex e.g. during anonymization that is possible by changing the script; but it is not considered good dicom practice, as you need to parse an UID (which is forbidden), and there is a chance you would create two the same UIDs.
