K-PACS Server & Viewer in One?

Hi,

I attend the staff at an University in Germany. We tried to set-up K-PACS to integrate the software in our teaching environment. We have downloaded the Installer (http://www.image-systems.biz/e…nstaller-v160-german.html) and now we have the following question:

Does K-PACS include the server Application and the viewer Application in one or is the K-PACS software only a viewer?

K-PACS is only a non-diagnostic DICOM viewer, with which you can import, view and process DICOM images. The K-PACS server component is only intended to handle incoming DICOM communication, i.e. to negotiate and accept DICOM objects sent to K-PACS from other stations.

If, with server application, you are referring to an image archive and distribution system, you should look into respective software, such as ConQuest.

Remember that you need to use software registered as medical device in case you are using it with diagnostic intent. K-PACS is not suitable for this. Neither is ConQuest.

as you told me, we will try to set up a ConQuest Server. K-PACS as a freeware Tool is perfect for our application purpose - we don´t have any clinical applications with patients, we are focusing on technical questions concerning diagnostics and therapy. The PACS system will be set up for teaching purpose and to support our lessons.
